Dr Philip McCloud
Director and Principal Statistician

Dr Philip McCloud has 40 years' experience as an applied statistician at the top levels of the Pharmaceutical Industry, Government and Academia, overseeing the provision of expert statistical consulting and clinical data management. Dr McCloud founded MCG to deliver world's best practice and personal biostatistical support to a broad range of organisations. Philip provides personal statistical advice, training, as well as leadership on biostatistical projects undertaken by the team at MCG.

A vastly experienced manager of biostatistical services, Philip's previous roles included Director of the Statistical Consulting Service at Monash University and inaugural Site Head of Biometrics at Hoffmann La Roche (Sydney). The Monash Statistical Consulting group provided statistical support to over 200 clients a year from the university research and medical community, government, industrial companies and collaborated with 15 pharmaceutical companies. As Site Head of Biometrics at Roche, Philip's brief was to build a world class biostatistics and data management team to service Hoffmann La Roche's global drug development programs. This was soon achieved with outstanding results and comprised a team of 70 top professionals under Philip's management. He was promoted to Site Head of Pharma Development. Other highlights of Philip's time at Roche were his roles as Project Statistician in many studies including anti-infective and oncology.

Philip is a skilled teacher to which his former students and clients attest. He makes the incomprehensible, comprehensible. He genuinely loves teaching, and was a lecturer in statistics at Monash University.

A graduate from Flinders University South Australia with a BA (Hons) in Mathematical Statistics in 1976, Philip was employed as a Biometrician with the South Australian Department of Agriculture and Fisheries from 1975 - 1989 during which time he completed his PhD in Statistics.
